Out in the desert of Northwest China’s Gansu Province lies some of the most unique geological formations in the world. Topping the list for uniqueness without a doubt is the Zhangye Danxia National Geopark, among which lies the Rainbow Mountains, a colorful display of layered rock hills formed over 24 million years of natural erosion.
